Senator Sharon Brown and her husband Fraser live in Kennewick, where they have raised five wonderful children. Sharon is a practicing attorney with an emphasis on business law. She works for a Hanford subcontractor to Mission Support Alliance, and her supervisors endorse her pursuit of the State Senate. Sharon and Fraser co-own a real estate development company, and she understands the unique problems that small businesses face.
As your Washington State Senator for the 8th Legislative District, my top priorities are to create and protect local jobs, fight higher taxes, support Hanford and the diversification of businesses, and maximize resources for education. I have pushed for fiscal responsibility in our state government and won an award for my legislation that reduces regulatory burdens on small business.
By streamlining state government’s interaction with private businesses, we can help free up their resources and they can start creating more jobs. Reforming our state’s business and regulatory laws will go a long way toward helping people get back to work.
It is our responsibility to create an environment where our kids can get a great education right here at home. My work in the legislature has helped secure $5.4 million for Delta High School. Other education reform proposals have surfaced which I believe will uphold our constitutionally-mandated responsibility to provide for basic education as well as meet the State Supreme Court’s requirements set forth in the McCleary decision.
None of these priorities would be possible without a balanced, sustainable budget. Our state government has become used to spending beyond its means, and we are taking a more realistic approach to funding state programs and services. I am honored to serve you in the Washington State Senate, and I hope to continue this stewardship.
Please vote for me, Sharon Brown, for District 8 State Senator.
